Art and Architecture
Vico Equense boasts a variety of architectural styles, with the most striking example being the Cathedral of Santa Maria Annunziata. Built on a rocky spur, its pink façade is a stunning sight against the backdrop of the sea. While the exterior displays Baroque characteristics, it also features elements of Gothic architecture, making it a rare find on the Sorrentine Peninsula. Inside, visitors are treated to the exquisite craftsmanship of the 1700s wooden altar, adorned with intricate decorations made of beads, corals, and glass paste, the handiwork of cloistered nuns from the nearby Convent of the Santissima Trinità. The juxtaposition of the cathedral’s grandeur and the simple charm of the surrounding streets creates a unique artistic landscape.Local Culture and Traditions
